Humanity Over Vanity

The Trendy K9 fully believes in the idea of
“humanity over vanity”.
We put pets first!
In practice, this means that we do not believe in performing services that will cause a pet physical OR mental harm. We ultimately strive to make sure your pet's experience with us is as stress free and as positive as possible.
How do we do that?

We treat all pets with compassion, kindness, and understanding.

We do not force pets to tolerate a service that causes them pain or fear.

We do not do extensive de-matting or ANY veterinary services.
Your pet is our number one priority while they are in our care, and we strive to treat all pets like they are our own. Pets in our care get the BEST care we can possibly provide, with individualized services to fit their individual needs. We prioritize one-on-one care in the most low-stress environment we can provide, to the best of our abilities.
And we understand that grooming can be a stressful process for most dogs: we further understand that not all pets and people get along.Which is why we also evaluate each pet individually to make sure they are a good fit for our salon, and that we are a good fit for them!
If we are not confident in the fit, or if we feel that they need more specialized help, we are more than happy to refer them to another groomer or a veterinarian for further care and services.
Again - we put your pet FIRST!
Here are a few ways in which we do this:
We DO NOT do "assembly line" grooming. We do not pile in multiple pets at one time and pass them around or rotate them through parts of a service until they are finished.
Instead, we only do one pet at a time per appointment slot. Your pet gets my sole attention from start to finish. I am the only person working on your pet during their appointment.
We DO NOT do a "one size fits all" approach where all dogs get the same services, shampoos, attention, handling, and care.
Instead, we customize our approach to each pet based on their needs. This allows us to choose the right shampoos, the right handling needs, and the right services for each pet.
We do not push a pet past their individual mental or physical limits and we do not force a pet to complete a service that causes them mental or physical harm.
Instead, we evaluate each pet and provide care based on their individual needs. If we don't feel that we can provide this care, we end the service and refer to a groomer or vet who can. We do not force a pet to go through a service that is scary or painful for them.
We do not offer extensive de-matting or any veterinary services.
Instead, we spot shave or use shears to loosen matting if possible. Extensive painful matting will be referred to a vet for care. Any veterinary care will be referred to a vet including vaccines, application of any medications, etc.
We strive to offer a low stress grooming environment, along with services that meet your pet's needs.
We offer a variety of customizable services including kennel free options and the option to have your pet be the ONLY pet in the salon for pets who are easily overly stimulated.
All of our policies, including health and behavioral, are outlined in our policies page linked below.
Pricing Notes
Before we start talking about our individual services, we need to make a note about our prices:
The quoted base price of any pets service is just a guesstimate that has been based on information provided by the pet parent! I reserve the right to adjust the price of any individual dog at ANY TIME based on a variety of factors.
These factors may include but are not limited to:
- Style of service (the more complex, the more the cost)
- Condition of the pet's coat (or length of time since last service)
- Presence of or severity of any matting
- Impacted undercoat
- Presence of any fleas or ticks
- Pet's behavior at any point in the service
- Any special needs of the pet
- Any discrepancies in information told during the initial conversation and what shows up at the salon
Individual dogs service prices may also vary greatly depending on the above factors - so just because one Poodle is $80 does not mean ALL will be. Some may be $80, some may be $90, some may be $70, etc.
Prices will be customized to the pet. We strongly recommend that pets should be RE BOOKED or PRE BOOKED for every 4, 6, or 8 weeks to reduce the risk of matting and to allow us to offer you the best price possible.
Again - no base prices are guaranteed. I can give a more accurate estimate once I see your pup, and as always I reserve the right to adjust prices during the service.

Questions?
Here are the answers to some of our more common questions. Have a question that you don't see an answer to? Shoot us an email or text! We will respond to you directly and may add it to the list!
What is included in your "basic" services?
A full list is in the above links to each service! Basic services generally include the bath with individually selected products, blow dry, brushing, nail clip or buff, ear cleaning, haircut (when applicable), and a finishing touch!
How long have you been grooming dogs?
I have been grooming for going on 14 years and I was trained by a certified master groomer through an accredited grooming school. For more info check out the "Meet your Groomer" page!
What is your booking schedule and policy like?
I work on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with Monday and Tuesday being the only days i book kennel free or only pet appointments. I am usually off on Wednesdays, Thursdays and most holidays.
I typically book at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm but can be flexible on times. Appointments generally run 1-2 hours with some dogs taking up to 3 hours. I try to book everyone one-on-one as best i can with minimal overlap.
Appointments are first come, first serve. I will hold a spot for 24 hours but if i do not hear a confirmation from an interested client by the 24 hour mark i may offer that spot to the next interested client.
I do not require deposits at this time. I do encourage people to book their appointments in advance, especially around the holidays. For more on booking, check out my policies page!
How do I contact you?
Check out my Contact page! There are two numbers that you can call OR text. Both go to my work phone.
Texting is going to get the FASTEST response - usually within 24 hours. I generally respond to all messages with texting unless you request otherwise.
You can also contact me via email or the website, however response times vary depending.
My work phone is generally OFF outside of business hours or if I am on vacation or out of town.
Do you take nervous/fearful, or difficult dogs?
I would be happy to evaluate your pet to see if we are a good match, and do not automatically refer out pets who are fearful or considered "difficult".
I cannot, however, take pets who need to be muzzled or who have a bite history.
Pets must also be able and willing to stand on the table for their service. I cannot accept pets who alligator roll, thrash, or refuse to stand.
These requirements are non-negotiable, and more are outlined in our policies section. These requirements are for the safety of your pet AND for me.
What about pets with health issues?
That depends entirely on the “health issue” at hand. Some i can work with, some i cannot.
Joint, Tendon, or Pain Issues: Pets must be able to stand and their pain must be under control. If they recently had surgery they must no longer have any stitches, staples, or glue and must be cleared by the vet. If they are painful, or they bite, or cannot stand then i CANNOT take them.
Heart Issues: Murmurs must be under grade three, pet must be on medication, and vet must provide written approval for grooming outside of a veterinary facility. I CANNOT take pets with murmurs over grade three, pets who are not on medication, or pets in heart failure.
Illness: I CANNOT take any pets who are showing signs of ANY illness. Period. This includes eye issues, ear issues, skin issues, respiratory issues, diarrhea, vomiting, or fever. Pets recovering from eye/ear infections must be cleared by a vet. Pets with skin conditions must have a veterinarian rule out ringworm or anything contagious.
Injury: I CANNOT take pets with recent fractures or torn ACL (or any other joint/ligament issue). I CANNOT take pets with open wounds or punctures. I CANNOT take pets with recent trauma to the eyes or ears (including hematomas).
Seizures: I CANNOT TAKE PETS WHO HAVE SEIZURES OR SEIZURE DISORDERS.
For a full list, check out my policies page.
Why charge extra for kennel free or only pet if you try to do dogs straight through anyway?
While i try to do all pets one on one and straight through, there may be times during a regular service that i may have to kennel your pet or where there are other people/dogs in the salon.
For pets who cannot be kenneled at all for any reason, i offer kennel free services where i allot extra time to account for drop off and pick up fluctuations and other things that may pop up - this allows me to offer a fully kennel free service for that pet.
For pets who don’t do well around other dogs or who get easily riled up or distracted, which can be dangerous for everyone, i offer only pet services where they are the ONLY dog in the salon and there are no other people - this allows a calmer, less distracting environment.
Both services are booked on Mondays or Tuesdays ONLY with extra time allotted - hence the upgraded price.
Why do you require a "premium" de shed on some breeds?
As with my regular services, i do evaluate each pet as they come in to determine their needs that specific day. I will waive a premium or de shed fee if i evaluate a pet and determine that they do not need it at the pet parents request. I will also ADD one if i start the service and determine that it is required.
But in my experience, the breeds that i automatically quote for the premium or de shed service are breeds that are prone to having compacted/impacted undercoats that 100% NEED the de-shed treatment before i can do anything with them - a regular bath and brush won’t do it for these dogs, and this is especially true for haircut dogs who have to be totally blown out before i can trim them.
So in short, it is generally a service that they NEED for their comfort and safety so I can complete the service.
Why and how is the "premium" de shed different from a regular service?
Our premium de-shed service uses a specific shampoo and conditioner combination in a specific order. The way it is done and the product used helps loosen the undercoat much more than our usual shampoo/conditioner combo.
This allows much of the undercoat to be BLOWN OUT with our hand dryer - in many cases, we are able to blow enough of the undercoat out to cut down on brushing by 50-75%! Which is generally much more comfortable and tolerable to the dog (and for ME).
Can I stay and watch, or can I assist?
I do not currently allow clients to stay and watch or assist with their pet.
There is a lobby you are welcome to wait in if you’d like, but services generally take 1-2 hours and our salon door will remain closed with the blinds shut, so you will not be able to see or interact with us or your pup.
This is not an attempt to hide anything from you or to be “mean” - this is for the SAFETY of your pup, myself, and the other groomer and the pup she may be working on. In the 14 years i have been grooming, most pets simply do not do as well for grooming when their people are around. They get excited, they try to move to look at their people, and some even act more fearful or even aggressive. The other pup in the room with us may also get excited or distracted by the presence of someone they don’t know!
It’s simply SAFER for everyone that you not be present during the service. I do not make exceptions for this rule, and am strict about pick up times for the same reason - if you show up (or you stick around and keep coming to the door to check in) and your pup knows it…. there is a very good chance i will have to send them home “as is” at that point because they get too worked up to safely continue and finish.
Assisting is not allowed, either, for the same reasons. It’s also an insurance liability and a danger to me to have to work around someone who is not trained in the field. If i need an assist with your pup for any reason, there is another groomer in the room who can step in and there is a trained assistant who floats around the building for this very purpose.
