Policies
My goal at The Trendy K9 is to provide a safe, low stress, and humane grooming experience to all pets who are healthy enough to be groomed. In order to do this, I have set up some policies that are meant to follow the ideal of “Humanity Over Vanity”.
That means all policies are in place to make your pet’s experience as low stress as possible, as safe as possible, and of course to make it easier for me to get pets in and out safely and effectively so they aren’t waiting forever in kennels.
If you have any questions about my policies, please reach out!
2024 Notice
Due to personal health reasons and in order to figure out the best way to schedule dogs to give each their own one-on-one experience, I have limited the number of dogs I do per day to no more than FOUR and I will be limiting my large dog availability to TWO per day.
That means I AM booking out roughly 5-7 days, depending on size of the pet.
I strongly urge you to RE BOOK your next appointment when you pick up your pet - this ensures your pet a spot on the schedule, as I expect I will be booking up pretty fast with this new (and hopefully temporary) 4 dog limit.
Conduct
The Trendy K9 does not condone any sort of physical, verbal, or emotional abuse towards any of the groomers or animals within the Classy Clip building. Anyone who swears at, yells at, threatens, or harasses another person or animal will immediately be banned from the property for life. Any sort of physical violence OR THREAT OF VIOLENCE towards a human or animal will result in a call to the authorities.

The Trendy K9 asks that you please pick up after your pet - do not leave any messes lying around the property. If you need a poop bag or paper towels, ask any of the groomers or Mark (Classy Clip assistant) for help.

Please do not approach (or interact with) other dogs, or allow your dog to do so, unless the owner of the other dog says it's okay. And please be CAUTIOUS about doing so, or about allowing your dog to interact with other dogs or strangers, including through salon gates. Remember that grooming, or being at the groomer, can be stressful for some pets and they may act in ways they normally wouldn't. Any pet may BITE out of self defence.

If you bring your children along with you to pick up or drop off, please keep in mind that the groomers in the building are trying to work and the dogs are likely to be stressed already. They may also be overly excited or easily distracted. The salon is NOT a playground so please do not allow children to run around the halls, bang on the doors, shout/scream, enter other grooming salons, or attempt to distract the pets being worked on. Please limit interactions with other dogs. Again, many are STRESSED and may BITE out of self defense.

Please be kind and courteous when leaving reviews online - if you are unhappy with a service please speak to your groomer before leaving a review, and allow them the chance to make things right. Negative reviews won't be blocked but rude, untruthful, or aggressive ones will be removed from whatever platform was used to leave them and notes will be made in our booking system.

Vaccines
All pets must be up to date on their rabies vaccine, this is PER NYS LAW. There are NO exceptions, bar pets medically unable to receive the vaccine (paper proof from the vet is required in this case and pet must be otherwise healthy.)
The owner must provide paper proof of the rabies vaccine in the form of a certificate or receipt from a veterinarian. This cannot be hand written, or in another language, and most properly identify the dog and owner.
NEW: Starting October 2023 all pets must be up to date on their parvo/distemper vaccine, and the owner must provide paper proof in the form of a certificate or receipt from a veterinarian or clinic.
Titer Testing: I WILL accept proof of titer testing for parvo, distemper, kennel cough, etc so long as it was done within the past year or two. I DO NOT accept this for rabies vaccine - per NYS law, this is NOT allowed.
Pets who cannot be vaccinated for ANY reason must come with a note from their veterinarian as proof that they cannot have vaccines AND that they are healthy enough to be groomed in a non-medical setting. This note must be dated within a year of the service, and must be updated annually.
Health
I do not currently groom pets with the following medical conditions: seizures or seizure disorders, neurological disorders, heart failure or heart murmurs above grade 3, any kind of lung or breathing condition, or any sort of illness/injury that could result in death should the pet become overly stressed.
Pets with the following medical conditions MUST BE CLEARED BY A VET prior to their appointment: heart murmurs under grade 3, recent injury or illness, recent surgeries, joint disorders (hip or elbow dysplasia, arthritis, etc), any kind of cancer.
Pets may NOT have sutures, glue, or staples from recent injury or surgery. Pets may NOT have any sort of cast or bandaging or splint.
Pets may NOT have any signs or symptoms of any kind of illness: fever, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, coughing, sneezing, eye discharge, ear discharge. Pets with ANY of these symptoms will be referred to a vet for treatment, and will only be re-booked after the owner has provided paper proof that the pet is cleared by a vet for services.
General Safety
All pets must be brought in on a leash or in a carrier, and should NOT be allowed to interact with other pets/people - this includes interacting with any pets who are behind a gate within any of the grooming rooms.
Grooming can be stressful for many pets, which can result in behaviors not typically seen (including aggression). The Trendy K9 is NOT responsible for any injury caused by or given to a pet that is off leash and/or allowed to approach other pets or people on the property.

All pets must be handled by an adult. The Trendy K9 is not responsible for any injury caused by or to a pet or child due to mis-handling.

Please do not interact with any pets on the property that are not your own, unless you have specific permission to do so from that pet's owner. This includes reaching over any gates to pet an animal within another grooming room.

If you have a pet who is AGGRESSIVE and cannot be around other dogs or people, please WAIT until we clear a path for your pet to come into our room without any other dogs or people around. Appointments where no other pets/people are in my grooming room will be limited to Mondays and Tuesdays. Drop off and pick up must be PROMPT for these appointments.

I do NOT allow pet parents to stay and watch, or assist. I have found that pets behave differently when their people are around, and not always in a positive way. It's less stressful for the pet if the pet parent is not around.

Grooming Safety
Dematting - i will evaluate matting upon check in to determine if it’s possible to try to brush out. I will not brush out matting that covers more than 25% of the dog, that goes down to the skin, or that is pelted onto the pet.
Severe matting will be shaved, no exceptions, and if i can’t get a #10 blade through on first attempt i will discontinue the service and refer the pet to a veterinarian.
Severe matting can hide a number of health problems including injuries, debris, skin infections, and can even cut off circulation. Severe matting is best removed by a vet, who can offer supportive medications and treat what is uncovered.
Double coats: I will only shave double coated dogs for medical reasons or practical purposes. I will NOT shave a short coated dog (lab, pug, etc).
Shaving the double coat can affect the dog’s ability to self regulate their own body temperature. It also ruins the coat and may cause it to grow back patchy, uneven, thicker, thinner, or even not at all.
The owner of any double coated pet that is shaved for medical reasons will have to sign a waiver acknowledging that they understand the risks and choose to have it done anyway, and that I the groomer am not liable for any damage done to the coat.

Stress: Pets who exhibit any signs of severe stress will be allowed time to calm down before I continue a service. Pets who cannot calm down will be sent home, as is, for their own safety.
Signs that I will look for that indicates extreme stress include extreme panting or inability to breathe, consistent aggressive or defensive behaviors like snapping, screaming or barking non-stop, inability or unwillingness to stand on the table, constant pooping or peeing.
General/Appointments
Services at this time are ONLY available for DOGS - I do not groom cats, small animals, or livestock. No exceptions.

ALL services are by appointment only - I do not take walk ins, even for A La Carte services like nail trims.
Appointments can be made by calling me, texting me, messaging me on facebook, or online via the website. I do not guarantee my availability to book an appointment if you show up in person. TEXTING will get the fastest response!

My hours are from 9am-5pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. I am OFF on Wednesday and Thursday. I will generally offer appointments starting at 9am with my last appointments usually being at or around 2pm.

Please check the website or Facebook page regularly for any closures - I will close for severe weather and may have dates where I am closed due to personal reasons.

Pet owners MAY NOT stay and watch (or assist with) any full service. Full services are a drop off service, and I will call or text when they are ready for pick up.
Expect most bath services to take around 1-1.5 hours and most haircut services to take 2-3 hours. A la carte services are the ONLY exception. If your pet is too excited, nervous, squirmy, etc I may ask you to wait for them in the main lobby.
Drop Offs and Pick Ups
Dropping Off: Please be on time when dropping off. Taking dogs early/late throws off the entire day’s schedule and may mean your pet, or another pet, runs behind.
If you need to drop off early or if you are running late, please shoot me a text. Let me know as soon as you possibly can.
I generally won’t mind an early drop off (first appointments of the day excluded - i will not take 9AM appointments BEFORE 9AM), though CANNOT take early drop offs for pets who cannot be kenneled or who must be the only pet in the salon.
Pets who are up to 10 minutes late are subject to additional fees. Pets up to or more than 15 minutes late will be rescheduled.

Whoever drops the pet off must be able and ready to make decisions for that pet. Either the owner, a friend or family member, etc etc who knows what is to be done for the service (including what kind of haircut).
I will do what the drop-off person tells me to do. If the drop off person is NOT the owner, or is NOT the one who makes these decisions, then whoever DOES needs to CONTACT me.
I am NOT responsible for mistakes due to communication error between the owner and the drop off person - or if the drop off person decides on something totally different.

Picking Up: When you drop off, i will give you a rough guess on what time your pet will be ready for pickup. I will text or call as i am finishing or when I am finished.
Please be prepared to pick your pet up at the noted time, or within 30 minutes of that time (travel not withstanding.) I do not have the space to hold pets for longer periods.
I cannot dog sit while you are shopping, visiting friends/family, etc etc. Do not plan for half/full day trips or “unexpectedly make” plans while your pet is being groomed. I reserve the right to charge an extra fee of up to $10 for every 15 minutes you are late in picking up, for pets not picked up within 30 minutes of completion of service (again, not including those who travel from 30+ minutes away).
Pets who are left for long periods and need additional services due to accidents in the kennels will be charged for those services.
Cancellations
I do require at least 24 hours notice to cancel (or move) an appointment!
Canceling less that 24 hours prior to an appointment MAY be subject to a late fee of up to 50% of the service price.

Any re booked appointments or appointments booked a week or more out WILL get a text reminder at least 48 hours prior to the appointment.
Please note that it is not always easy or possible to find someone to book in a last minute opening, so last minute cancellations are a huge loss of income for me.
No Shows
Please please please do not “no show” an appointment! With a proper cancellation i at least am able to try to fill the spot, but there is no way to do that if you just don’t show up.
Expect to pay up to 50% of the total appointment fee if you no show. If you no show multiple appointments, I reserve the right to charge the full cost and/or refer you to another groomer.

ALL fees will have to be paid prior to booking the next appointment! This applies to appointments made in a 1 year period - not just consecutively.
Pricing
Prices listed on this website are STARTING prices for pets based on how long it typically takes me to complete pets of a certain size and/or coat type. These prices are NOT guarantees and MAY be adjusted based on the same general principals as before.

Prices are NOT NEGOTIABLE.
A number of things may affect the price, either bringing it UP or lowering it. The two biggest factors that may do this are the condition of the pet's coat and how long it takes me to complete the service. If you do not know your pets weight, make a guess and guess HIGHER - we will weigh your pet upon check in to get an exact weight and give you a more accurate base price then. If your pet has not been groomed in 12+ weeks LET ME KNOW so i can factor that in. Poor coat condition - greasy, matted, parasites, etc - will affect your price.
Other factors may include: special requests, behavioral considerations, pets who cannot be crated, pets who need to be only pet in the salon, and health issues or age considerations.
Pricing for full services include: bath, blow dry, brushing, nails, ear cleaning, and haircut (when applicable). The base service does NOT include nail buffing, teeth, dematting, or any specialty services like de-shedding. PUPPY prices do not include any sort of haircut and are only applicable to puppies under 6 months of age for their FIRST service.
